Dear Pastor Kavouras:

Some thoughts you may wish to share with Christ Lutheran Congregation.

Since my incapacitation I watch more TV than good; yet observe a drumbeat from the likes of Mike Huckabee and Mitchell Bachman (both whom I otherwise admire) as well as Jewish and “Christian” leaders promoting an “Alliance”.
I have no animus toward Jews, rather the opposite; if I lived in the state of “Israel” I would vote for BB Netanyahu, a stalwart secular US ally.  However the “Alliance’s” theologically premised effort to feed holocaust survivors is confused.

Christians should feed the hungry, Jew and otherwise; it is what sons and daughters of God do from conscience and command.  But what the so called “Alliance” expressly and impliedly asserts is co-equality of Christianity and Judaism.  Acceptance of this notion is dangerous, rejecting salvation by grace alone through faith alone, by God’s Israel in Christ.
“Alliance” assertions: that “all God desires of us is to feed the hungry” is less than gospel truth; that the Jews are “God’s chosen Israel” is untrue.  By cross and resurrection Christ’s church is God’s one and only Israel gathered in Baptism, Word, and Lord’s Supper.

By all means we should feed the hungry; not on account of a false appeal that Jews are God’s chosen; rather that Christ is our exclusive Savior.
